Web App Compatibility

SpellType works automatically in native Mac apps. Web app support is currently focused on Chrome and Safari, with Gmail, Google Docs, LinkedIn, and ChatGPT as the launch web-app focus.

Google Docs

Works with one setting

Enable accessibility mode and SpellType will start suggesting immediately. You only need to do this once — it persists across all your documents.

  1. 1 Open any document in Google Docs
  2. 2 Click Tools in the menu bar
  3. 3 Click Accessibility (or Accessibility settings)
  4. 4 Check Turn on screen reader support
  5. 5 Click OK — you're done

Other web apps

Compatibility varies

Gmail, LinkedIn, and ChatGPT use more standard web text fields in Chrome and Safari. Some other web apps use custom rendering that limits what macOS can see, so SpellType may not detect your text in those apps yet.
